Job Summary:

Under the direction of our CEO, the Director of Sales leads with six things in mind: integrity, leadership, value, recruiting, strategizing, and closing business. This individual will provide leadership to the sales team and develop overall sales strategy, operational plans and processes that drive revenue growth. In addition, this individual will refine existing, and establish new processes, tools, and structures to support organizational sales channels. They are accountable for goal-setting processes, identifying opportunities, and enhancing performance by bringing expert level CRM and business intelligence to manage sales performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Nurture and Recruit Sales Talent: Accountable for developing a team of inside and outside sales professionals. Optimize team structure, along with roles & responsibilities, to best support brand and customer teams.
  • Develop and close key deals: Embody Optec’s value of delivering high quality energy saving LED lighting products and services that exceed expectations. Become an indispensable strategic partner to key accounts. Participate in or negotiate strategic or high-value sales. 
  • Market Sectors: Review current vertical penetration & reinforce approach where growth is observable. For underperforming & new vertical alignment, forge a strategy for growth & increased brand awareness. Capture market trends and competitive dynamics, and generate input for new collections.
  • Sales Channels: Develop current sales channels & define new paths to market. In partnership with organizational leadership, build and drive the insights & analytics agenda for current and future clients, contribute to go-to-market strategies, and support the importance of digital and e-commerce strategy.
  • CRM: Responsible for the elevation of customer centric data capture and analytics across the organization. Build upon existing CRM assets while improving team adherence to the system. Maintain 100% Pipeline data accuracy.
  • Special Projects: Identify prestige and/or high-value projects & provide white glove service for future marketing promotion.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Work alongside trusted clients for input on special projects & potential fixture design collaborations.
  • Marketing: Interface with marketing in order to debrief the sales team on new product launches & company campaigns. Increasing brand equity is a cornerstone of our sales & marketing synergy. Attend selected trade shows to build brand recognition and uncover major opportunities.
  • Product Development: Assess current product categories & in conjunction with product development team, form adaptive roadmaps for existing & new offerings.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Conduct advanced analysis of macro: industry, CRE & design trends with reporting deliverables to be discussed with the leadership team.
  • Operational Plans: Modify and/or generate standards & procedures across all items above.
  • Organizational Behavior: Engage in sales team personnel management & curate individual professional development programs for employee fulfillment & overall retention.
  • General: This role requires the distillation of cross-departmental involvement into actionable & reportable sales team activity.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience in sales-related roles in the lighting industry.
  • 3-5+ years of team management experience.
  • Desire to contribute to, promote, and embrace B-Corp initiatives.
  • Proven track record leading and growing sales organizations.
  • Great communication and people skills. Able to interact with and present to all levels of management.
  • Passionate about the lighting industry, the company they work for and the products they represent.
  • Travel approximately 30%-50% USA only.
  • The ideal candidate will be located in Wisconsin or Illinois; however, we will consider qualified candidates across the US. 
  • Previous business ownership experience a plus.

Working Conditions:

This position almost always works indoors. The Director of Sales will work near customers and coworkers, but usually have a few feet of space separating them from others.
